Anti-Static Wired Keyboard User Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing our professional Anti-Static Wired Keyboard. This keyboard is specifically engineered for use in Electrostatic Discharge Protected Areas (EPAs) such as electronics manufacturing, cleanrooms, laboratories, and industrial control rooms. Its static dissipative material (10^6-10^9 Ω) safely grounds electrostatic charges from the user, protecting sensitive electronic components and equipment from potential ESD damage.

2. Safety Precautions & EPA Guidelines

• Grounding Requirement: This keyboard is a static dissipativedevice. It must be used in conjunction with a properly grounded workstation (e.g., connected to a grounded ESD mat) and the user must wear a grounded wrist strap for complete ESD protection.

• Do not use this keyboard in environments with flammable gases or where explosion-proof equipment is required.

• Do not disassemble the keyboard. It contains no user-serviceable parts.

• Keep the keyboard away from direct heat sources, liquids, and excessive dust.

3. Installation & Connection

1. Ensure your computer is powered off.

2. Connect the keyboard's USB plug directly to an available USB port on your computer or to a port on your grounded workstation.

3. Power on your computer. The operating system will automatically detect and install the necessary drivers (Plug and Play).

4. For optimal ESD protection, ensure the workstation surface (ESD mat) is properly grounded. The keyboard will achieve its static dissipative function through contact with the grounded surface and the user.

4. Keyboard Layout & Functions

• Standard Keys: Includes a full set of alphanumeric keys, function keys, navigation keys, and a numeric keypad.

• Special Function Keys (F1-F24): These keys are pre-programmed for general functions (e.g., F1 for Help). For OEM/ODM customers: These keys can be custom-programmed for specific applications or macros. Please refer to your custom software/configuration guide if provided.

• LED Indicators: Standard Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock indicators.

5. Operation & Care

• Normal Use: Operate the keyboard with clean, dry hands. Apply normal typing pressure.

• Cleaning:

  • Daily: Wipe the key surfaces and case with a clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with a mild, anti-static cleaning solution.

  • Deep Cleaning: First, disconnect the USB cable. Use compressed air to remove debris from between keys. Wipe the surface with an anti-static cleaner. Never spray liquid directly onto the keyboard. Ensure the keyboard is completely dry before reconnecting.

• Maintenance: Periodically inspect the USB cable for cuts or abrasions. Test the keyboard's surface resistance regularly (e.g., with a surface resistance meter) as part of your EPA audit procedure to ensure continued ESD performance.

6. Troubleshooting
